FAQ

Material & Safety: What’s inside the plate?

Why do you use 304 Stainless Steel instead of 316?

We deliberately use high quality 304 (18/8) Stainless Steel because it is the global "Gold Standard" for high-end food preparation.

  • The Kitchen Standard: If you look at the highest quality pots, pans, and cutlery in professional kitchens, they are almost certainly made of 304 grade. It is specifically designed to be durable, bacteria-resistant, and rust-proof against food acids.
  • The "Marine" Difference: Grade 316 is known as "Marine Grade" because it contains extra chemicals to prevent rust in harsh saltwater environments (like boats). While excellent for the ocean, this extra cost offers no additional safety benefit for eating pureed carrots or warm pasta.
  • Our Promise: By using premium 304, we provide the safest, most hygienic surface for your baby without inflating the cost for unnecessary industrial additives.

Are your products safe for my child?

Absolutely. Safety is the foundation of Tots Ground.

  • Non-Toxic: Our stainless steel is an inert material, it does not leach chemicals into food, does not rust, and does not alter the taste of meals.
  • Certified Clean: All our products are rigorously tested to ensure they are BPA-Free, Lead-Free, PVC-Free, and Phthalate-Free. We adhere to strict safety standards so the only thing entering your baby's body is the nutritious food you prepared.

Is the silicone suction food grade?

Yes. We use 100% High-Quality Food-Grade Silicone for all suction bases, lids, and bibs. Unlike cheaper plastics, our silicone is free from fillers and dangerous byproducts. It is soft, durable, bacteria-resistant, and completely safe for food contact.

Usage & Care

Can I put the stainless steel plates in the microwave?

NO. Like any metal cookware or cutlery, stainless steel should never be placed in a microwave. It can cause sparks and damage your appliance.

  • Mom Hack: We recommend warming the food in a microwave-safe container first, then transferring it to our plate. This actually helps cool the food down to a safer eating temperature more quickly!

Is it dishwasher safe?

Yes! One of the best features of our 304 stainless steel is how easy it is to clean. You can put the plate (and the silicone parts) on the top rack of your dishwasher. It will not stain, harbor odors, or rust, making cleanup after messy meal times a breeze.

Will the plate get too hot for my baby to touch?

Stainless steel is a conductor, so you may feel warmth through the plate if the food is very hot. However, because our plates are designed for babies, food should always be served at a lukewarm, safe-to-eat temperature.

  • Pro Tip: This conductivity is actually a benefit! If you put the plate in the fridge for 5 minutes before serving fruit or yogurt, the metal will stay cold and keep the food fresh for longer.

Troubleshooting: Getting the Perfect Stick

How do I make the suction base stick better?

Suction works best on smooth, non-porous surfaces (like glass, stone, or smooth plastic). If you are having trouble, try these 3 steps:

  • Clean the Surface: Ensure the high chair tray or table is free of crumbs and soap residue.
  • Dampen the Base: Wipe the bottom of the silicone ring with a slightly damp cloth (water only, no oil!).
  • Press Firmly: Press down on the center of the plate to push the air out and create a vacuum seal.

Will this fit my high chair tray?

Our plates are designed with a compact footprint to fit most standard high chair trays However, for the best suction results, please check that your tray surface is smooth and not textured.
